Magnets - How Things Move

Kindergarten has been learning how various objects move, whether they are pushed or pulled or what makes things move fast or slow. In this unit, we learned how magnets work.

The children worked in groups with magnets and did experiments, taking objects from around the room and predicting whether the magnet would be attracted to them. As we did each experiment, we kept a chart of our findings. Objects such as clothes pins, paper clips, metal buttons and cans attract to the magnet however a quarter, a paper hat, toy car or pencil do not. The children even asked of Morah's rings would attract to the magnet? Feel free to ask them if they did.
