Non-Fiction Books

Through the year, kindergarten has learned all about what an author and illustrator does, how to identify the book's title, setting, characters, etc. Most recently we learned the difference between fiction and non fiction books. Each student chose a topic they wanted to learn more about. We looked at various books and found out information about each topic such as how the topic they chose, moves? What it looks like? Where it lives? When they found out the answers to these questions, they wrote a sentence and drew a picture to illustrate. After we collected our information, the children decorated covers. Just like a real book has information about the author, so too does ours. The children were very excited to get the opportunity to be the author and illustrator of their very own books!
