Lag B'Omer

We had an absolutely great time learning, preparing and celebrating Lag B'Omer. We learned all about Rabbi Shimon Bar Hochai's life and his teacher Rabbi Akiva. Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai passed away on Lag B'Omer, however he instructed his family and students to celebrate his life and Torah accomplishments on that day rather than mourn.

We decorated banners for a special parade around Brighton Beach. Our theme was Ahavas Yisroel, the Mitzva of loving every Jew - no matter what or who. We chose this theme because Rabbi Akiva was especially careful with this Mitzva and Rabbi Akiva was Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai's teacher!

We also had a great time playing races in the yard with all of the other grades. We were split up into teams and had loads of fun!

Lag B'Omer is also our friend Zaylin's Hebrew birthday. How special!
