Kindergarten's Purim Masquerade
In addition to all the other Purim celebrations we might have taken a part in, kindergarten had their very own masquerade. Everyone brought in such cute and creative costumes! We all had a chance to get up on a big great stage to tell everyone what we were dressed up as. We had a grand time reading the Purim story and waving our graggers whenever we mentioned Haman's name. We also performed some of the special Mitzvos one is supposed to do on the day of Purim. We gave Shalach Manot and Matanot L'evyonim (extra tzedaka). Next, we had a great time dancing to some of our favorite Purim songs! Hurray!

Fun with Fractions!
Kindergarten was introduced to fractions! We learned various terms such a whole, half and a third. We started out with a whole pie of pizza and explained that we need to share it with our friend who came over to play. The only right thing to do would be to split it in two equal pieces so there would be no arguing. We continued this idea while explaining a third as well. The children were also able to come to the board and split various pictures and shapes in half as well as match the fraction to the correct picture. They love being hands on with our fractions food kit!
Investigating Materials
Kindergarten had a great science lesson of investigating materials. We learned that many of the things we see, sit on, wear, etc are made out of materials. Various materials we investigated were plastic, metal, wood, paper and cloth. We looked through our science bag and found objects such as a bowl, stuffed animal, rulers, scarf and more. As each student took them out of the bag, they had to identify what material it was made out of. We kept a record on our chart as we went along. After, the children had a scavenger hunt around the classroom and picked various objects to tell their friends what material it was made out of. They did a great job!
