Our Last Show & Tell!

For our last show and tell, the children were asked to make something homemade about a subject they were taught through the year. Some of them made the Empire State Building from Legos, pictures of the solar system, ocean life and some even wrote their own storybooks. They were so excited to show off their creative projects!

Shadows Continued...

In continuing with our light and shadow unit, kindergarten took advantage of the beautiful, sunny day and got to see their shadows! The children paired up and traced each other's shadows with colored chalk. The also traced all of the Morah's shadows! Kindergarten had a lot of fun making silly poses!

Light and Shadows

Kindergarten is learning about light and shadows. We spoke about various light sources such as the sun, light bulbs, fire, etc. We then went on to explain that when light is blocked by an object, it causes a shadow. Morah read a book all about this. We then got to play an exciting game! Morah took and overhead projector and placed objects one by one on it. The class faced the white board and had to guess what the shadows were. After, we all had the opportunity to make our very own shadows on the board!

Historic Richmond Town Trip!

Kindergarten visited the Historic Richmond Town. We learned all about how things use to be years ago. The children saw a woman making baskets by hand, another cooking a cake in front of a fire, an old store and the value of purchasing things we need vs. want and the about the mill. We even visited an old school house and learned how children would go to school 6 days a week and after school, instead of playing, they worked for the family. We learned how life was much harder then and how lucky we are today.
